"Meet the Trees" ID Walk

Photo: H. LeStrange.

Every summer for several years, Virginia Master Naturalist Don Smith leads walks along Old Cabin Trail at Powhatan State Park to help visitors learn to identify around 25 of the  trees native to Virginia that grow there. The walk is about 1 1/2 miles on a flat stretch. (More than one of our chapter's Master Naturalists were inspired to take JRMN basic training when they went on this hike!) Check the park schedule of events.
