"Living with Black Bears" is an initiative of the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) which aims to dispel myths surrounding black bears and educate Virginians in commonsense practices that will prevent negative encounters and keep this species wild.

Our DWR certified black bear team members are qualified to give presentations at libraries, HOAs, clubs, etc. about how to live safely in bear country. You can learn more here and also at BearWise.com.

The Virginia Master Naturalist program is open to all, regardless of age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, veteran status, or any other basis protected by law. An equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
